About me:

Hello, and welcome to Yoga with Ands! I’m Andrea van Niekerk, thrilled to have you here.

My yoga journey began in 2017 after immigrating to Ontario, Canada, with my family. Dealing with back pain from the move, I discovered online yoga, which brought me instant relief and a newfound sense of well-being. A friend’s invitation to a local yoga studio fueled my passion, leading to my teacher training and certification in 2018.

Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, I adapted by shifting my business online, teaching daily live Zoom sessions. Post-pandemic, I joined Movati Health Club, teaching various yoga styles before moving cities and starting my own business at our local community centre. I now teach four weekly classes to a diverse group of yogis, ranging from their late 30s to late 80s, and enjoy fostering a supportive community.

Yoga has been a vital foundation through my peri-menopause journey, focusing on strength and nutrition. My students’ positive feedback, like Peter Blanchet’s story of pain-free movement, inspires me daily: “I can now get out of my sports car with no pain.” Encouraged by my best friend, Chrissy, I launched this online platform to share my unique, accessible approach to yoga.

My vision is to help people improve strength, balance, and flexibility—key to our longevity. Be brave, my lovelies. You’ve got this, even if you don’t believe it yet.
